Step-by-Step Guide to Change Your Wi-Fi Password

1. Connect to Your Network

Make sure you’re connected to the Wi-Fi network you want to change the password for. You can use a computer, tablet, or smartphone.

2. Access Your Router's Settings

  • Open a Web Browser: Type the router’s IP address into the address bar. Common addresses include:

    • 192.168.1.1

    • 192.168.0.1

    • 192.168.1.254

  • Log In: Enter the username and password. If you haven’t changed these, they might still be the default (often "admin" for both username and password). Check your router’s manual or the sticker on the router for details.

3. Locate the Wireless Settings

  • Once logged in, look for a section labeled Wireless, Wi-Fi Settings, or Wireless Security. The exact name can vary by router model.

4. Change the Password

  • Find the field that allows you to set or change your Wi-Fi password (often labeled as Passphrase, WPA Key, or Security Key).

  • Enter your new password. Make it strong and secure—mix letters, numbers, and symbols for better security.

5. Save Your Changes

  • After entering the new password, look for a Save or Apply button. Click it to save your changes.

6. Reconnect Your Devices

  • After changing the password, you will need to reconnect all your devices using the new password. Make sure to update any devices that connect to your Wi-Fi.

Tips

  • Record the New Password: Keep a note of it in a safe place.

  • Regularly Update Your Password: Changing your password every few months can help keep your network secure.
